Catholic Christianity is a way of life in which we gradually come to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. At Saint Clare of Assisi, we welcome adults and families who are exploring the Catholic faith through a process called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or OCIA.
Becoming Catholic
OCIA is for adults who are not baptized, baptized Christians from another tradition, or Catholics who want to complete their initiation through Baptism, Confirmation, and/or Eucharist.

If you have been away from the Catholic Church, you are welcome here. We can help you take the next step with compassion, clarity, and support.
Sacraments
The sacraments of Christian initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The path may look different depending on your baptismal background and formation needs.

What does the process look like?
The OCIA journey is different for each person. Some people are just beginning to explore Christianity. Others have been baptized in another Christian tradition and are interested in entering into full communion with the Catholic Church. Some are baptized Catholics who want to receive Confirmation and/or First Eucharist.
Through prayer, study, fellowship, service, and conversation, we will help you create a formation plan that meets your specific needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to become Catholic if I attend?
No. You are welcome to come, ask questions, and learn more without pressure or obligation.
What if I am already baptized?
If you were baptized in another Christian tradition, your path may involve preparing to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. You would not be baptized again.
What if I was baptized Catholic but never received Confirmation or First Eucharist?
We can help you complete your Christian initiation and prepare for the sacraments you still need.
How long does it take?
The journey is different for everyone. For some, it may take a few months. For others, especially those new to Christian faith, it may take longer.
When can I start?
Anytime. When you sense that God may be inviting you to take this step, we are ready to walk with you.
