Catch-Up on Sacramental Preparation (CUSP)
Helping students and families prepare for the Sacraments—no matter their age or timing.
Program Overview
Children sometimes fall outside the traditional timeline for receiving the Sacraments for a variety of reasons. CUSP—Catch-Up on Sacramental Preparation—is here to help!
This year-long program is designed for students in Grades 3–12 who are seeking full reception into the Catholic Church or who need to prepare for one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation, including Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
CUSP is a journey for the entire family. Depending on the student’s age, preparation includes monthly meetings, at-home faith formation, ongoing participation in an age-appropriate parish program, and opportunities for prayer, reflection, and personal accompaniment.
CUSP for Grades 3–5
The Grades 3–5 CUSP program includes:
- Monthly parent sessions: At least one parent or guardian is required to attend.
- Family interviews: Students and parents will meet with T.J. Cofield twice during the year to discuss the student’s growth and preparation for receiving the Sacraments.
- Ongoing faith formation: Students are required to participate regularly in Clare’s Kids and attend at least 50% of its sessions.
- At-home preparation: Families will complete assigned formation activities throughout the year.
CUSP for Grades 6–12
The Grades 6–12 CUSP program includes:
- Monthly in-person sessions: Students attend with at least one parent, guardian, or sponsor.
- Retreat: Each student will complete a retreat offering time for deeper reflection and conversion.
- Personal testimony: Students will write and present a testimony about their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
- Ongoing faith formation: Students in Grades 6–8 must attend at least 75% of EDGE sessions, and students in Grades 9–12 must attend at least 75% of Life Teen sessions.

Attendance Expectations
Consistent participation is an important part of Sacramental Preparation. Families are expected to attend all required meetings and complete the formation requirements assigned for their program.
More than two absences from required monthly CUSP sessions may result in the student needing to repeat the preparation year.
Program Fee
$100 per student for the 2026–2027 Faith Formation year.
