The sacrament of anointing of the sick
The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, formerly referred to as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is administered to those who are gravely ill or about to undergo a serious operation, as well as to the dying. The sacrament is administered to the gravely ill for the recovery of health and strength, and to the dying for the remission of sins and the provision of spiritual health and strength.
In the case of a dying person, one may receive the sacrament even if death is not imminent. In fact, it is best to request the sacrament as early as possible so that the recipient may participate fully and consciously in the grace of the sacrament.
To request the Sacrament of the Sick, please contact Father West directly by email or at 843.471.2672. If an after hours emergency, please call 843.471.2121 and follow the prompts.
