Parish Membership Requirements for Reduced Tuition
We strongly support our families' decisions to educate their children in our Catholic schools. Only families who are registered, who attend Mass every weekend, and who support the parish financially are eligible to receive the reduced tuition rates. This is a privilege, not a right. A family must meet the above criteria for a minimum of three months before applying to the parish for certification. When a family does not fulfill these obligations, the pastor recalls the certification of reduced tuition eligibility and the family is then required to pay the full tuition amount. Not only are the (Catholic) parents expected at weekend Mass but so are all the children. Saint Clare of Assisi families are eligible for reduced rates at Bishop England High School on Daniel Island and at Christ Our King-Stella Maris School in Mount Pleasant. Subsidies Historically, parishes assume a portion of the cost of educating their respective children in Catholic schools as a way to promote Catholic education and to offset the cost. It is the prerogative of the pastor whether to offer the subsidy. Saint Clare of Assisi does not pay the subsidy portion of tuition. Local Catholic schools charge that portion to the parents. |

As you may be aware, recent tax reform on a federal level has provided great incentives for Catholic school families with the expansion of 529 Plans for elementary and secondary Catholic education. Please click this link for more information.
